Xylem introduces efficient Lowara e-MP Series

Posted: Tuesday 23rd May 2017

Offering improved efficiency and reduced energy consumption, leading global water technology company, Xylem, has launched the Lowara e-MP series. The range of highly efficient and flexible multistage ring section pumps are ideal for applications in a variety of sectors including industrial, utility, agriculture and building services.

Capable of flows up to 850 cubic metres per hour and heads of up to 950 metres in both horizontal and vertical configurations, the multistage pump series is powerful and efficient. It can also handle pumped liquids from minus 25 degrees Celsius up to 180 degrees Celsius.

The advanced hydraulics of the e-MP are optimised by computational fluid dynamics calculations that improve efficiency to reduce life cycle costs. Another feature of the e-MP is a redesigned first stage impeller, capable of operating with extremely low net positive suction head (NPSH) conditions to meet the rigorous demands of hot water or condensate pumping applications. Computational fluid dynamics have also been applied to the new U-turn channels, creating an ideal flow of pumped liquid throughout the pump to improve efficiency.

Simon Barrett, Area Manager at Xylem, comments: "The Lowara brand has been designing and configuring casted multistage pumps for the past century and the e-MP series has been engineered and designed in response to market and customer demands. The smart design and materials of the e-MP improve performance and extend the life of the pump, allowing for easy assembly and service, making it ideal for nearly any high-pressure application."

The e-MP series features a large self-cleaning seal chamber and relief piping for contaminated liquids together with an internal drum balancing system (for thrust reduction), to reduce downtime and operation costs, as well as a modular design for simplified assembly and maintenance. What's more, the e-MP series is compatible with intelligent controls such as the 5th generation Hydrovar, allowing additional monitoring. Optional sensor interfaces on the e-MP can even be connected to an intelligent plant monitoring and diagnostic system to help plan and minimise maintenance, downtime, and save money.

The e-MP is available in a variety of sizes, models and materials, enabling it to be configured to system requirements. Xylem also has a wide range of tools for system sizing and selection, including its online selection tool, Xylect, which allows users to create hydraulic scenarios in order to identify the optimum solution for specific pumping conditions.
