Radius Systems (formerly Uponor) has developed a technologically advanced electrofusion fitting that will bring substantial time and cost savings to water service connection operations.

The QuickTee features an integrated socket that provides a rapid, single-weld, service connection from water main to service pipe, saving at least three minutes in fitting time. Around 99% of service pipes laid in the UK water industry are 25mm in diameter, so Radius is offering a range of 25mm outlets.

By reducing the number of joints in the system the QuickTee improves overall integrity as well as reducing the number of parts required on site (and in the supply chain) from two to one, by integrating the electrofusion reducer and tapping tee. The QuickTee base is also a Radius Systemsí Unifit range-rated fitting, capable of working on more than one pipe size.

A built-in pipe clamping mechanism secures the service pipe in place during the fusion cycle, removing the need for expensive tooling. In trials, the integrated clamps proved particularly popular with installers, also ensuring compliance with work procedures.

QuickTee service fittings have already been successfully demonstrated at various locations around the UK, including Colwyn Bay in Wales, and Wigan and Manchester in the North West. No additional training is required to fit them, due to their ease of use and utilisation of existing clamp tools associated with top-loaded tapping tee fittings.
