Saint-Gobain PAM Extends its Durable and Fast Draining Watershed Gully Grate Range

Posted: Wednesday 21st February 2018

With a growing emphasis on whole life costs for the specification of municipal castings, Saint-Gobain PAM has extended its range of Watershed Gully Grates to cope with the rigours of today's increased traffic and changing climatic conditions.

Says Paul Thompson, marketing manager for Saint-Gobain PAM: "This range has been designed and engineered to include features that improve operator safety, asset security, and efficient water clearing capacity, to help disperse increasing volumes of surface water."

Nine new products have been added to the range. These include 450 x 450mm in 100mm and 150mm deep frame depths which are available in left hand, right hand or a kerb facing hinge orientations. This allows specifiers to choose a solution that exactly meets their needs. Also new to the range is a 150mm depth version of its class leading Watershed Orbis cycle safe and pedestrian friendly grating.

Manufactured in the UK to the highest quality, safety and environmental standards, the Watershed gratings are produced from 97 per cent recycled materials and are in themselves 100 recyclable. A captive hinge grate design makes maintenance and cleaning operations safer and also prevents theft.

Large multidirectional wedge seatings provide extra stability and non-rock performance and ensure the grate's security and location within the frame in even the heaviest traffic. A large water area on the grating removes any surface water from the road rapidly.

In common with other Saint-Gobain PAM access covers and gratings, the Watershed range features the Install Plus installation and frame levelling system. This helps installers fit ironwork right first time and improves the life of the installation. Installers use adjustable nylon inserts and bolts within the frame flange to adjust its height and bring it level with the road surface and allow for road gradient or camber.

Concludes Thompson: "Operators and the contractors tasked with maintaining gratings need a solution that will withstand the rigours of heavy traffic, remove surface water quickly and be easy to maintain. When these gratings are correctly installed, the Watershed range offers all of this, plus a solution that will last the lifetime of the road without repair or refurbishment."
