Polypipe ‘makes more space for water’ with new Permavoid system

Posted: Tuesday 2nd July 2013

Polypipe, the UK’s leading manufacturer of plastic sustainable drainage and water management products, has launched its exciting new Permavoid system for shallow ground water storage and infiltration.

As exclusive licensee to the new Permavoid System, Polypipe customers can now access the widest range of geocellular water management solutions on the market, for both shallow and deep applications.

The Permavoid system can be used directly below porous paving and drain asphalt surfaces, or below impermeable top surfaces as a source control technique. It also provides integrated water treatment, removing silt and breaking down hydrocarbons as part of a wider water management and treatment solution.

Designed and tested to be used in place of a traditional aggregate sub-base, the highly sustainable Permavoid system improves reliability and storage volumes, with its ability to capture water at source an important element when complying with the Flood and Water Management Act 2010.

Its benefits are especially useful in sites where there is a high water table, shallow hard rock, contaminated or brownfield sites. The Permavoid system reduces excavation volumes and eliminates the need for trench supports and costly equipment such as pumping stations and petrol interceptors, for an all-round easier, speedier and more cost-effective installation.

Emma Nicholls, Marketing Communications Manager at Polypipe, said: “The launch of the Permavoid System working with existing distributers SEL and Charcon Hydro Solutions, who are also able to provide technical support and specialist installation, is an exciting step for Polypipe and puts us in the unique position of being able to offer our customers the widest range of modular cell solutions for both shallow and deep applications with integrated pollution management.

“The Permavoid system alone brings a whole host of benefits and its ability to be combined with the existing Polystorm geocellular system creates even more opportunities to help customers achieve the very best water management solution for their project.”

Polypipe offers a full and impartial design service, from a basic data review to full hydraulic and structural calculations, to help every customer achieve the ideal solution for their project requirements.
