New Packaging for the Fernco Pipe Doctor

Posted: Wednesday 19th April 2006

Flex-Seal has developed and introduced a new packaging format for the Fernco Pipe Doctor, no dig pipe repair system.

The new pre printed box provides a more convenient format for the pipe repair specialists and removes the need for multiple kits for some bigger sized repairs.

“Since we launched the Fernco Pipe Doctor at the end of 2003, it has become a key product for the future growth of the Flex-Seal business,” states Jon Crean, UK Sales and Marketing Director.

The Fernco Pipe Doctor is a cost effective, quick and easy to use solution for repairing damaged pipes and Flex-seal has invested significant resources on ensuring that the system is firmly established within the no dig marketplace.

“Over the last 12 months we have seen a considerable increase in Pipe Doctor sales and market share and we are now focused on developing and enhancing the overall system ranging from the packaging of the kit, through to the contents of box, as well as the installation equipment we can offer the contractor.”

The Pipe Doctor will now be distributed in 2 box sizes depending on the size of the repair. One sized box is designed to repair pipes with internal diameters of 103mm and 154mm and the larger box will repair drainage systems ranging from 230mm up to 560mm (internal diameter). In addition both packs are designed for 500mm and new 1 metre pipe repairs.

“The new design offers a more user friendly format when compared to the previous packaging we used and provides an excellent information tool for the user. This new format also enables us to develop other combinations of kit sizes with the components supplied in one box,” Jon Crean continues.

Each Pipe Doctor kit will include the necessary equipment to carry out a pipe repair including protective gloves, fibreglass mat, protective ground sheet, tie secures, packer protection hoses and a 2 part resin mix bag. The unique resin bag comprises of two components which are separated by a sealing clip. The sections are mixed by simply removing the clip and kneading the two parts together. The resins are mixed thoroughly to give a uniform colour and then applied to the fibreglass mat to give the strength and flexibility that permanently repairs any cracks or voids.

“We remain committed to introducing new components and developments to the Pipe Doctor product range, with several exciting announcements, offering significant user benefits, due in the near future,” Jon Crean concludes.
