New Multi Utility NVQ Programmes

Posted: Monday 8th June 2009

Develop Training Ltd are pleased to announce the launch of their new Network Construction Operations (NCO) NVQ programmes, which are suitable for Water and Gas operational staff. The new qualifications will provide a proof of competency for any individual working on Water or Gas Networks on a Multi Utility basis.

Develop can currently offer potentially funded NCO qualifications at Level 1, Level 2 in Mains Laying and Service Laying and Mains and Service Laying combined. The company will also this year launch the NCO level 3 qualifications in support of the need to qualify supervisory staff. Funding can be accessed for all NCO programmes, in part or whole depending on an assessment of the client’s eligibility and the bespoke nature of the programme offered.

Lisa Perkins, Head of Funded Learning for Develop said: ‘Due to our strong position within the utilities sector, we are able to pursue government funding on your behalf. We will also conduct an Organisational Needs Analysis to identify both your company and individual training needs, which will help us to design a tailor made training plan based on your requirements’

With over 30 years experience in training within the utilities sector, Develop offers a unique approach to structure and deliver programmes, to ensure that all clients receive an exceptional and relevant training experience.

Pete Featherstone, Business Director of the Water and Environment Division for Develop said: ‘Offering programmes on a bespoke basis allows us to tailor programmes to the individual requirements of each client, in order to provide candidates with the essential skills and knowledge to do their job competently’.

The flexibility of the programme means that Develop are able to offer the right mix of training and assessment to suit their customers. Assessment can be carried out on-the-job to minimise disruption to their work. For those candidates who are new to the industry or require up skilling, training can be provided at one of Develops fully equipped training centres. Programmes are designed to provide optimum results for minimum time away from work.

John Kerr, Head of Operations (Gas Division) for Develop said: ‘The scheme is particularly attractive to those who wish to re-qualify from the gas to the water sector or vice versa, which will be of help to Self Lay Organisations and other Multi Utility Contractors. Our business as usual approach to the delivery of NVQs has proved to be popular with contracting organisations of all sizes’

These qualifications add to Develops existing portfolio of NVQs which include those in the Water and Waste Water process operations field, Leakage Detection and Control, Distribution Control and Metering to name but a few. All of these awards are also subject to LSC funding.

In support of their efforts to raise and maintain the standards of training and development Develop has recently been awarded a national quality standard for the delivery of information, advice and guidance to their learners. The standard, known as ‘Matrix’ was officially granted to the company following a full week’s intensive assessment across a number of the company’s sites and programmes.

Andy Holmes, Head of Quality for Develop said: 'Achieving the Matrix standard is testament to the way in which Develop operates, and confirms the dedication and professionalism of all our staff. To have achieved the Matrix standard across our business shows that we provide learners with concise and up-to-date information on not only the training and development we offer, but also information on things such as the latest legislative changes or even where to enquire about courses that we do not currently offer'.

If you are interested in any of the above programmes please call a member of our sales team on 0800 876 6708 to discussed your potential funding routes.
