New Low Cost Rapid Gravity Filter Floor Development

Posted: Tuesday 30th June 2009

TETRA® FlumeFlowTM design offers capital cost savings for drinking water filters.

Severn Trent Services announces the launch of the new TETRA® FlumeFlow™ rapid gravity filter floor air/water distribution system for use in drinking water treatment and desalination pre-treatment applications.

The TETRA FlumeFlow is used in conjunction with the proven TETRA® LP™ Block dual parallel lateral filter floor system to control air and water distribution for either concurrent or sequential backwashing. The system ensures simplified civil construction and eliminates the need for a separate fabricated air header to achieve significant capital cost savings over equivalent technologies.

Additional benefits of the TETRA FlumeFlow system include simple installation; increased flexibility when positioning laterals in the filter bed; prevention of air/water leakage and media bypass; grout grip technology for additional stability; and even distribution between laterals, ensuring efficient and effective cleaning of dirty media.

Severn Trent Services recently has been awarded a contract to supply TETRA FlumeFlow technology for a new desalination plant in South America, where the all-plastic construction of the FlumeFlow provides significant corrosion reduction advantages in addition to the capital cost savings.
