New Hand-held Ultrasonic Clamp-on Flowmeter from Katronic

Posted: Thursday 24th September 2009

Katronic Technologies have introduced a new ultrasonic clamp-on flowmeter for non-invasive and non-intrusive flow measurements. As the instrument is very compact, light and easy to operate, it is an ideal tool for any application which requires engineers to enter confined spaces.

Weighing less than 700 g and enclosed by an IP65 housing with rubber shock protection, the KATflow 200 is an extremely light yet robust flowmeter with one flow channel for straightforward spot measurements. It can be battery operated for over 24 hours and displays real-time graphs of the flow data. It is an ideal tool to detect leakages, carry out flow surveys or to verify the accuracy of existing flowmeters of any brand or type. As the sensors are simply clamped onto the pipe wall, all these activities can be carried out without the need to open water lines. The sensors are suitable for pipes of many different materials including all common metals and plastics, and cover a pipe diameter range from 10 millimeter to 3 meter (0.4 to 118 inches). Additionally, the KATflow 200 can also be supplied with a wall thickness gauge making it a complete pipe survey tool. The flowmeter can measure every conductive and non-conductive clean or moderately aerated liquid including water and wastewater with flow velocities from 0.01 m/s to 25 m/s.

Special features of the KATflow 200 are its set-up wizard and sensor positioning assistant, which are guiding the user step-by-step through the installation process. That makes the instrument very easy to operate and thus measurements can be carried out within minutes. Applying the sophisticated transit time technology, the KATflow 200 delivers highly accurate flow data which can be stored on the instrumentís internal data logger and downloaded via its serial interface. All sensors applied are manufactured with a stainless steel head and cable conduit for extreme robustness.
