Handheld Controller for Pulsarís non-invasive Flow Pulse Flow Monitor

Posted: Friday 17th January 2014

Pulsar Process Measurement have launched a Handheld controller for their unique non-invasive flow monitor, Flow Pulse. The Flow Pulse instrument simply clamps to the outside of a pipe (tools required = one screwdriver!) and uses Pulsarís novel RSSA analysis protocol to monitor the flow rate with excellent repeatability. Previously available as a stand-alone instrument, or with local display, or integrated with Pulsarís sophisticated Quantum 3 pump station controller, Pulsar have now extended Flow Pulseís versatility.

The self-contained Handheld Controller can either connect to pre-existing Flow Pulse units or is available as a complete kit with a dedicated Flow Pulse in a convenient carry case, making it the perfect network management tool. With a clear colour screen, Flow Pulse Handheld allows users to see the immediate flow rate, and its 4GB of on-board storage allows users to download and view flow history and signal traces.

Typical uses include the identification of inefficient pumps or faulty non-return valves or monitoring the performance of pump systems. A sleep /wake function allows data logging over an extended period. Development was supported by DCWW Welsh Water, where Flow Pulse has recently won the Institute of Water regional 2013 Product Innovation Award.
