Grundfos are in the Pink

Posted: Friday 30th October 2009

The Pinkpop Festival in The Netherlands is held each summer and with headline acts of Bruce Springstein, Depeche Mode and Franz Ferdinand, this years event was as popular as ever and attracted 60,000 visitors.

Ensuring that all the back-up services perform to the same high standard as the artistes is an important part of the overall enjoyment and success of the event, and Grundfos were proud to be selected as the pump solutions provider to deliver the clean water and remove the wastewater to the site.

With 823 toilets and 281 showers and a water usage of 2.5 million litres of water to support – with just as much wastewater to dispose of – this is no small job.

The water supply solution comprised of 2.8km of temporary pipes and at the heart of the pressure boosting system were three Grundfos CR 45/2 in-line pumps. The wastewater solution comprised of 12 storage tanks complete with AVD mixers and 17 Grundfos SEG sewage grinder pumps that supported the treatment and removal of the wastewater, with a large SE1 pump providing back-up for peak times.

There is no opportunity to test the pumps prior to events like this so it was partly because of Grundfos’ reputation for reliable and robust pumps that they were asked to work with specialists Water Technique on Location (WTL) on the solution. The pumps didn’t let WTL or the visitors down as the pumps performed beautifully and coped with everything that was thrown at them.
