Groundbreaking low-cost shower meter launched to utility companies

Posted: Wednesday 12th November 2008

Leading marketing specialist, Howse Jackson Marketing, is launching the world’s first low-cost, universal shower meter (to utility and energy trade buyers only).

Invented by Product Creation Ltd, producers of the award-winning Eco Kettle, the device uses a simple digital graphic display that is tailored to each individual shower following a simple calibration of each unit.

The shower meter, named the ‘Eco Showerdrop’, subsequently allows UK householders to know exactly how much water their shower uses and alerts them when the recommended amount of water has been dispensed. Set up is simple, very quick and no tools are required.

Independent sources have calculated that the device will save an average family of four over £180 a year on water and energy costs. It is also estimated that each Eco Showerdrop will save 40,000 litres of water and two-thirds of a tonne of carbon annually (based on Waterwise 2008 survey, verified by Waterwise and The Energy Saving Trust).

Mark Jackson, Business Development Manager of Howse Jackson Marketing, says: “At a time of spiralling energy costs and huge environmental challenges, The Eco Showerdrop produces stunning costs savings for the end-user as well as saving tens of thousands of litres of water each year. At a trade price of only £10 per unit, there should be no excuse for every household in the UK not to use one.”

Jacob Tompkins, Director of Waterwise, says: “Showering accounts for one third of the total water used in the home and this is the fastest growing sector of water use. The Showerdrop shower meter can help save water and energy.”
