Advanced technologies used for mobile automated meter reading.

Elster has announced today the introduction of its next generation Emeris Route Manager software (ERM2) together with a new hand-held reader, Emeris 9900. This packaged solution represents the latest innovation from Elster in its AMR/AMI product portfolio. The Emeris Route Manager is the latest version of route management software for mobile automated meter reading (AMR) specifically developed for water utilities. Based on a shared platform with the Elster AMR solutions offered in North America and already used by many utilities there, ERM2 incorporates many new valuable features that allow water utilities to manage their meter reading processes more efficiently.

With its rugged design, integrated AMR radio card and advanced meter reading features, the Emeris 9900 integrates technologies such as GPS, GPRS, web services, ultra-low powered radio and barcode reading. This delivers a highly advanced hand-held device for the market.

“Information technologies are evolving rapidly and our customers are insisting that we incorporate the latest technologies in our AMR products. The sophisticated features of Elster’s AMR offerings deliver a highly advanced and future-ready meter reading solution developed for the water industry,” said Omar Valdez-de-Leon, AMR/AMI global product manager for Elster’s water business unit.

“The feedback from customers who have already trialled Elster’s new AMR solution has been very positive on the system’s flexibility and ease of use,” Valdez-de-Leon added.
