Eaton launches sounder & beacon range for the water treatment industry

Posted: Tuesday 20th August 2019

Eaton has launched a new range of MED approved sounders and quick fit beacons for the water treatment industry. Manufactured to the relatively new standard of IP69K, the X10 range can withstand a jet wash of 5 bar at a temperature of 80°c.

Encased in a fade resistant polycarbonate and ASA housing, the X10 will work in the most demanding environments, protecting people and property in temperatures as low as -40oc through to the extremes of 70oc heat and 100% humidity.

Says James Morgan, Product Manager at Eaton: “We set out to design a new range of beacons and sounder beacons to best prevent water ingress and product failure due to operating in a corrosive environment. For that, we had to consider a huge variation in climatic conditions, how to best perform in hot dusty enclosed spaces through to the cold, wet and windswept conditions. It’s vital that safety devices remain operational and can withstand these harsh environments. We have designed X10 to keep running with minimal maintenance, for years to come, whatever environment it finds itself in.”

Designed as a modular system, it offers 144 different combinations across AC and DC low voltage and AC mains, with a choice of 102 tones and six different coloured LED beacons to cover virtually every application needed by the marine industry.

X10 is available in three housing sizes, Mini, Midi and Maxi, with adjustable volumes of between 90 dB(a) to 120 dB(a) depending on which product you select. The LED beacon with its gold-plated sprung contacts helps to prevent shorts and can be swapped out if needed in under 30 seconds.

It is designed for durability. Silicone gaskets replace the standard EPDM foam, it has stainless steel 316 fasteners to prevent corrosion and a body constructed from UV resistant ASA polycarbonate combats colour fade and brittle plastics. Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE
