A new UK-designed and manufactured formwork and shuttering system makes concrete casting on construction projects of all sizes more environmentally sustainable, faster, safer and cost effective.

Fast Form Systems offers a range of solutions which make use of re-usable corrosion-resistant steel brackets to form shuttering, rather than having to use bespoke timber structures for every job. This significantly reduces make-up time as brackets are simply bolted to the ground and the ply is screwed into them – and post-use there is virtually no waste timber to dispose of.

It is also a much safer process. The Fast Form Systems brackets can be used to attach handrails and toe-boards so operatives working on-site can safely use the top of the formwork as an access route. And weighing as little as 4kg each, the steel brackets are easy and safe to handle, making the formwork and shuttering build less physically demanding.

The structural integrity of the formwork and quality of the finished concrete is much more assured too, removing the uncertainty that is difficult to avoid when using timber as the steel brackets are designed to accommodate specific tolerances. No tie-bars are needed in most applications, which makes Fast Form Systems ideal for projects where holes in the concrete are visually unwelcome or could compromise water-tightness.

Tony White, MD of Fast Form Systems said: “Apart from the expensive panel systems which are only cost-effective on very large construction projects, until now the industry has had virtually no alternative but to use timber formwork and shuttering. But in an era of far greater environmental sustainability and safer and more efficient ways of working, this has become an outdated relic of earlier generations of construction.

“That’s why we’ve taken a new approach using steel brackets – and setting up ourselves so we can deliver next-day to site anywhere in the UK. Brackets are available in a wide range of sizes to suit the concrete cast size and shape and we offer full specification support to achieve the right result.”

Fast Form Systems have already proved themselves on a number of construction projects, including a lift-pit for a new Premier Inn hotel in North East Lincolnshire, railway bridge construction, water treatment works, flood defence work and the recent Crossrail project in London.

In addition to the standard formwork and shuttering, Fast Form Systems offers a solution for sheet pile capping beam, which is already used in flood defence schemes, and for radiused, curved, irregular and cone-shaped concrete.

The system is suitable for a variety of project types and uses, from house building to nuclear power stations, and is available worldwide.
