Ashtead Buys Big Brother

Posted: Tuesday 19th June 2007

In accordance with the company’s aim to supply the best available technology for hire, Ashtead Technology Rentals has added the Rovver® 225 to its rental fleet of pipeline inspection equipment. The 225 is the big brother of the smaller Rovver® 125, however, both units employ the same control unit, cable drum and camera unit.

Designed for pipes with an internal diameter ranging from 30 to 120 cm, the ROVVER 225 is a rugged, all-wheel-drive crawler with adjustable viewing height, excellent manoeuvrability, and the power to inspect over rough terrain. A remote handheld pendant makes it easy to steer around elbows and obstructions, and to control the crawler's focus, lighting and speed. An integral clutch, which can be disengaged using the remote pendant, releases the wheels for quick retraction. Available with either a manual or automatic cable reel, the automatic motorised cable reel senses crawler movement and automatically feeds or retracts cable as required.

Ashtead’s James Carlyle says"The Rovvers® are extremely popular because they are so rugged and reliable and they work extremely well in wet, dirty and even underwater environments. In addition, the ability to hire both crawlers with one control system saves customers money whilst enabling them to inspect a wide variety of pipes."
