Wessex Water wins the Institute of Water National Innovation Award 2015

Posted: Wednesday 19th August 2015

Wessex Water, in collaboration with Dynamic Flow Technologies & Elster Metering, won the 2015 Institute of Water National Innovation Award for their Wastewater Meter innovation.

The Wastewater Meter is a truly innovative piece of equipment that provides the ability to accurately, reliably and economically measure the range of flows that go through a domestic drain. It is a measurement option that currently doesn’t exist, for customers or suppliers, and there are no other products in the marketplace that can do what the Wastewater Meter prototypes have been able to achieve.

The National Innovation Award was presented at the Institute of Water’s prestigious President’s Dinner Dance, held at King's College in Cambridge on the 10th July 2015. The evening celebrated some of the most innovative individuals and companies from the UK Water Industry and was a demonstration the industry’s creative excellence.

Matt Wheeldon, Wessex Water, said:

“It is absolutely fantastic for the Wastewater Meter to be recognised by the Institute of Water as an innovative game changer in the world of wastewater flow measurement. The team who have developed the meter and invested time & money to make it happen to prove its worth are delighted. I truly believe this new technology will improve the way flows in drains and sewers are measured and ultimately valued and managed.”

MWH is proud to have sponsored the Innovation Awards and recognizes the leading role the Institute of Water plays in developing talent and cultivating innovation across the Industry. Paul Gledhill, Managing Director MWH, was on the judging panel and is keen to extend his congratulations to this year’s winners:

“It has been a privilege to have been a member of the judging panel for this year’s Innovation Awards. The quality of the submissions was of the highest standard, making judging a very fulfilling experience. I congratulate Wessex Water, Dynamic Flow Technologies & Elster Metering on their innovative technology in an area where flow metering has struggled. My involvement in judging has re-affirmed a confidence in the depth of talent we have across the Industry and our ability to constantly innovate to improve the service we provide to the customers we serve.”
