Becomes wholly owned subsidiary of International Wastewater Systems Inc.

UK-based SHARC Energy Systems has become a wholly owned subsidiary of the Canadian business, International Wastewater Systems following the reverse takeover of International Wastewater Heat Exchange Systems Inc. (“IWHES”).

The business is a world leader in state-of-the-art wastewater heat exchange systems. Using direct heat exchange from untreated wastewater, IWHES technology provides the most energy-efficient, cost-effective and environmentally-friendly solutions for heating, cooling and hot water for any building. The SHARC Energy System uses what is usually a building’s waste by taking the raw sewage, treating and cleaning it, then using it to create a highly cost-effective alternative heat source. It incorporates the very latest in smart technology and heat recovery engineering to provide a system that is reliable, affordable and almost maintenance-free. Its operational performance is proven across Canada and the USA where it is installed in numerous buildings including the University of British Columbia in Vancouver and The Gateway Theatre in Richmond.

SHARC Energy Systems was launched in 2014 to bring the technology into the UK and Europe.

Commenting on the transaction, SHARC’s UK CEO said, “By becoming a wholly owned subsidiary of International Wastewater Systems, we are able to work within a more collaborative structure with the Canadians, sharing resource and skills across the Atlantic as required. This will benefit our clients in the UK and Europe.”

He continued, “We are now able to confidently plan for investment into our growth agenda which includes setting up a permanent operation in Scotland, recruitment of key engineering and management skills to help develop the business, as well as seeking distribution partners across the EU.”

SHARC Energy Systems will continue to operate as the European manufacturing and distribution operation in partnership with Flowmech Products Ltd.

In December, SHARC Energy Systems will be launching the UK flagship installation at Borders College in Scotland in association with Scottish Water and the Green Investment Bank. SHARC Energy Systems will akso be advertising for staff over the coming months to support their growth plans.
