Severn Trent’s multi-billion pound capital infrastructure programme is being bolstered by a new recruitment drive which will see a team of engineering and design specialists joining the water and waste provider by early next year.

The new roles will form part of Severn Trent’s recently formed Capital Design department which has been tasked with designing and supporting the delivery of the company’s essential upgrade projects.

One of the first key appointments sees delivery and project management expert Ian Kirkaldy joining as Seven Trent’s new Head of Capital Design. Previously at Southern Water, he has almost 40 years of experience in leading water and utility-related engineering schemes.

Ian said: “To prepare for the future it’s essential we enhance our expert client capability and build a team of first-rate engineers and design specialists.

“By creating an in-house capital design function we can provide more innovative, faster and cost-effective solutions for our customers.

“To be leading the new team is really exciting as we have the chance to closely shape and deliver our important infrastructure projects. Now it’s all about being prepared for 2019 by recruiting designers and engineers at a range of levels.”

The launch of the new team comes as Severn Trent submitted its next five-year business plan where it set out its commitments to deliver for customers between 2020 and 2025.

The plan was created alongside customers and stakeholders and includes a £6.6bn investment drive and a commitment to reduce bills for customers by 5%.
