Scottish Water picked up a prestigious award for diversity at a ceremony in Glasgow recently.

The utility was recognised with the Diversity in the Public Sector Award at the Herald and GenAnalytics Scottish Diversity Awards.

The prize highlights an organisation in the public sector that has made significant improvement in ensuring greater diversity and inclusion in delivery of services to clients and communities.

It also recognises the work done internally, rewarding the demonstration of progress within an organisation on diversity and inclusion.

Judges noted that Scottish Water 'recognises that as a major employer and service provider, they are in an influential position to positively contribute to promoting the importance of Diversity and Inclusion'.

They also added:

Scottish Water is tracking progress against Diversity and Inclusion targets to eliminate discrimination.

Self -organising employee networks have been established within the business including a Carers Network, a Disability Forum, an LGBT Network and an Armed Forces Network.

David Hanlan, Scottish Water's Diversity and Inclusion Specialist Consultant, who collected the award on the night said:

"I am so proud of the work that we have achieved in Scottish Water around Diversity, our Diversity and Inclusion Network groups continue to grow in number and in ambition, and it was so fantastic that some of the members could be at the award ceremony to share the moment.

"We continue to challenge ourselves to be a fair and equitable organisation that is welcoming for all our employees, and embraces the diverse customer communities of Scotland."
