A Rochdale-based aeration company has scooped a leading edge safety accreditation, designed to help industry improve its safety record.

Suprafilt, who are based on Albion Road Industrial Estate, Rochdale have recently been accredited from SAFEcontractor, a programme that recognises the highest standards of health and safety practise amongst UK contractors.

The company works with some of the UK’s major water companies and leading industrial organisations such as Seven Trent Water, Thames Water and Diageo. It specialises in aeration technology, designs and manufactures energy efficient fine bubble diffused aeration solutions, together with a range of stainless steel products including pipework and pressure vessels.

Hannah Nolan, Operations Manager at Suprafilt, says: “Here at Suprafilt we are unreservedly committed to achieving the highest practical standards of health and safety.

”SAFEcontractor shows our clients that we have in place the policies and procedures that are required to work safely on sites as well as the monitoring systems in place that ensure we are proactively checking our health and safety performance and looking for ways to continuously improve.

”This accreditation will set us apart from our competitors as well as enhance our credibility both with existing and new customers.”

John Kinge, Head of Risk at SAFEcontractor says: "Major organisations can no longer run the risk of employing contractors who are not able to prove that they have sound health and safety policies.

"More companies need to understand the importance of adopting good risk management in the way that Suprafilt has done. The firm’s high standard has set an example, which hopefully will be followed by other companies within the sector.”

Under the SAFEcontractor system, businesses undergo a vetting process, which examines health and safety procedures and their track record for safe practice. Those companies meeting the high standard are included on a database, which is accessible to registered users only via a website,

Suprafilt Limited specialises in the design, installation and commissioning of both fixed and lift-out fine-bubble diffused aeration systems for municipal and industrial sewage treatment plants. The company is committed to helping organisations improve their energy efficiencies and works in partnership with Universities, independent research institutions and technical and process experts to remain at the leading edge of technology in this field.
