Senior Scientist and Project Manager, Pippa Lawton of Royal HaskoningDHV, has won the CIWEM Young Members Award for her proactive role in the Institution and the wider environmental community.

The Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM) is delighted to announce that Pippa Lawton, MCIWEM C.WEM, has received the prestigious Young Members Award, sponsored by Jacobs, which recognises the outstanding contribution to environmental understanding made by a young member of CIWEM.

Pippa, a Senior Scientist and Project Manager with Royal HaskoningDHV, joined the company in 2007 following her graduation from the University of Leeds (BSc Geography). An enthusiastic member of an international team of engineers and scientists for the past 6 years, Pippa has developed into the role of Team and Project Manager. Responsible for a number of flood and coastal risk management strategies, Pippa has excelled in her role, balancing the client’s commercial expectations against the technically correct options in order to produce cost effective, sustainable and innovative solutions.

Described as an ambassador for environmental professionalism, Pippa has been an active participant in CIWEM activities throughout her career, within both the Rivers and Coastal Group and the East Anglia Branch; and is now developing links with the Scottish branch as part of her recent move to Royal HaskoningDHV’s Edinburgh office.

“Pippa is a whirlwind of enthusiasm and this won over the award judges. She is truly committed to the environment and to bringing other people to a deeper understanding of environmental issues. She is a worthy winner of our Young Members Award,” said award judge and CIWEM Director of Policy, Justin Taberham.

Pippa will be recognised for her achievements at CIWEM’s Annual Dinner on 29th May at Drapers Hall, London.
