morrison utility services introduces electric vans to thames water smart metering fleet

Morrison Utility Services (MUS), the UK’s largest dedicated utility service provider and part of M Group Services, has invested in four Nissan e-NV200 electric vans. The investment forms part of Morrison Utility Services ongoing commitment to reduce carbon emissions and to identify and introduce more sustainable ways of working across its operations in support of clients’ net zero targets.

The four fully electric models, with zero exhaust emissions, are being used by MUS teams delivering smart metering works on behalf of Thames Water. The vans can cover up to 180 miles on a single charge, depending on driving behaviour and use of auxiliary equipment and offer a rapid charge capability of 60 minutes.

MUS Contract Director, Dave Tann, comments: “This investment in these highly-efficient 100% electric vehicles supports our commitment to minimise the environmental impact of our operations, making us more sustainable and reducing our carbon footprint. From a commercial perspective the e-NV200s will also provide significant cost saving benefits thanks to low maintenance costs, government purchase incentives, reduced vehicle tax and Ultra Low Emission Zone charges.”

The Nissan e-NV200s were sourced via M Group Services Plant & Fleet Solutions which is responsible for the supply and management of specialist equipment and vehicles across all M Group Services’ businesses supplying the Utilities, Transport, Data and Telecom sectors. M Group Services Plant & Fleet Solutions’ in-house fleet team manages over 6,000 drivers and vehicles and over 14,000 items of plant and equipment across M Group Services.
