More Metasphere RTUs to benefit from DNP3

Posted: Friday 26th October 2012

Following the success of its DNP3 versions of the Compact and Battery MM3P Remote Telemetry Units (RTUs), Metasphere is commencing development of the DNP3 stack on two further outstations.

The outstations are the MM-IM and a new version of the company’s logger the Point, to be released later this year. The MM-IM (Micro Medina Intelligent Modem) can act as a gateway between various site Scada equipment and masters, whilst the new Point will be an IP68 battery powered unit which communicates with masters using GPRS or GSM communications.

It is planned that both outstations will adopt the new SA V5 extensions to DNP3 and support WITS functionality. DNP3 functionality is expected later this year, with WITS functionality being planned for 2013.
