Kemira was recently awarded supply contracts for the cities of Toronto, Ontario and Montreal, Quebec, the two most populated cities in Canada.

Kemira was selected by the city of Toronto, the largest city in Canada, for a three year contract supplying ferrous chloride to the City’s five waste water treatment plants. Ferrous chloride is used to enhance phosphorous removal and control odor and corrosion through sulfides precipitation. Kemira has enjoyed a long standing relationship with Toronto providing over 35 years of continuous supply.

Kemira also secured a four year contract with the city of Montreal beginning November 2015. For the past 28 years, Kemira (has supplied aluminum sulfate or ferric chloride to cover the needs of the second largest city in Canada. Kemira was selected for its high quality, reliable supply, cost competitiveness, and outstanding product performance. The cooperation with the City of Montreal is excellent and Kemira is now working to qualify additional products for upcoming tenders.

“We are pleased to continue as a trusted supplier to both Montreal and Toronto.” says Manuel Moreau, Director of Commercial Excellence. “We are proud to see our chemicals play an important role in environmental protection, preventing phosphorous from reaching our lakes and rivers. We have built a strong reputation in North America and being awarded these multi-year contracts demonstrates our ongoing commitment to be the first choice for our customers.”
