Career prospects for environmentalists in the water industry are being boosted by an offer of free professional registration to Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv) status.

The Institute of Water, the UK’s only professional body solely dedicated to supporting the careers of people working in the UK water sector, is waiving its usual £164.50 professional review fee for the next three months.

“Chartered Environmentalist status establishes environmentalists on a par with other professionals such as Chartered Engineers and Chartered Scientists.” said the Institute of Water’s chief executive, Lynn Cooper.

“Being a Chartered Environmentalist is about having the professional knowledge, experience and commitment to apply sustainable thinking throughout your daily working life.

“The Institute of Water is dedicated to supporting the careers of people working in all areas across the industry. Chartered Environmentalists are drawn from all professions, so anybody who is committed to the environment and can demonstrate this can apply.”

Tim Boldero, the Institute of Water’s vice president environment added: “In today’s business environment the achievement of Chartered Environmentalist status makes sense for both employers and employees. It establishes proven knowledge, experience and commitment to professional standards, and enhances employability. The registration service provided by the Institute of Water is therefore of great benefit to individual members as well as the industry as a whole.

“There is no better time to register as a Chartered Environmentalist. SocEnv has moved quickly to embrace the new political situation in the UK and to work with others to influence the new coalition government. The Society is actively seeking the views of Chartered Environmentalists on the new policy opportunities.”

To apply for the free offer, anybody interested should email info@instituteofwater.org.uk or telephone 0191 422 0088 for more information and application forms. All initial applications received by 31st January 2011 will benefit from this unique offer.
