Following Durapipe UK’s inclusion on the South West Water specified product system TS411, Durapipe ABS pipework has been utilised within an expansion development at Lowermoor Water Treatment Plant, which is part of the South West Water network.

As part of an expansion to the plant, new manganese removal filters were fitted and it is essential that these are kept clean to ensure that they continue to perform to provide safe drinking water. An air scourer is used to clean the filters so contractors Nomenca required a pipework system that can transport clean air to the filters for use in the cleaning system.

As a result, Durapipe ABS pipework and fittings in sizes 3” and 4” was selected to carry the clean air. It is vital that the air is kept clean and free from contaminants so Durapipe ABS was the ideal choice, as its corrosion and limescale resistant properties ensure the air will remain clean over the lifetime of the system.

Durapipe ABS is also a superior choice during the installation process, as the lightweight material and ease of jointing technique provide significant labour time and cost savings for the end user.

Commenting on the installation, Paul Cook from Nomenca said: “Durapipe ABS was specified for this project due to it being an approved product with South West Water. In addition to the product capabilities it is offering South West Water, Durapipe ABS also made the installation process much simpler for us due to its quick and easy installation properties.”

Durapipe ABS offers installers and end users a variety of benefits; its corrosion free properties and wide temperature capabilities make it the ideal system to carry a variety of substances. The lightweight material and ease of jointing of Durapipe ABS also makes it a quick and easy solution to install, offering significant installation cost savings.
