Cut the Green Crap

Posted: Friday 24th June 2016

Clean Rivers Trust launches its latest report on the condition of the rivers of England and Wales.

This report paints an encouraging but truthful picture of the rivers of the two nations and points out

the incompetence of both regulators and government.

The rivers are cleaner than they were 25 years ago but still of a lamentable quality. Sewage is not killing fish but many are being chemically altered, abandoned minewater is polluting the nations' rivers, contaminated land is damaging drinking water resources.

Harvey Wood Director of Clean Rivers Trust said this week the Prime Minister and Government needs to cut the 'Green Crap' of rhetoric trying to mollify the nations with how green they are and demonstrate they really are willing to tackle the problems of rivers, remodel the regulators and engage with the users from commercial to individual idler. He further said that the only thing that they (Government) do for the environment is recycle fiscal promises and wet words; it is actions rather than words that are needed.
