Composite access cover leader Structural Science Composites initiates recruitment drive to support global business development

Posted: Thursday 10th October 2013

Pioneer of composite access/manhole covers, Structural Science Composites (SSC), has commenced a recruitment drive at its Barrow-in-Furness production facility to strengthen its production and warehouse operations as part of its quest to grow its business worldwide.

Following on from the recent appointments of a production technician Mark Thackeray, who is working on the presses and finished goods, and new recruit Jack Hedges who is appointed production operative, SSC is urgently looking for a materials planner.

International sales director Phillip Millward, who joined the company in April this year, believes the planned recruitment programme, which also includes engineers, will help SSC meet growing demands and support the company’s plans to develop its business globally, for its market-leading Thrubeam® range of vehicular and pedestrian manhole/access products.

Phillip Millward says: “Specifically, more and more local authorities and utilities in the UK and mainland Europe are making the move towards replacing metal covers with SSC’s more ‘fit-for-purpose’ and environmentally friendly vehicular composite alternative. Furthermore, we genuinely believe our D400 and C250 composite options - which have been proven to outperform their traditional rivals in every aspect - provide a structurally superior modern solution for the global vehicular and pedestrian access cover markets. This belief underpins our ambitious growth plans to take the business forward worldwide. As a result, we are restructuring SSC’s operations, which includes the current recruitment drive.”
