Posted: Monday 14th February 2011

Kingsley Plastics Ltd, the GRP Housings & Odour Control Covers manufacturers, announces the renewal of its contracts with Wessex Water, Scottish & Southern Energy and Scotia Gas Networks (SSE/SGN) to design, manufacture and deliver a wide range of GRP Meter Cabinets, GRP Housings and Odour Control Covers across the UK.

The contracts, which covers both the Scottish & English regions of the UK, has an annual supply of in excess of 300+ GRP Housings and will run until 2015 for Wessex Water. The new arrangements for Scottish & Southern & Scotia Gas Networks include the opportunity to extend for a further two years which in turn offers a signed contract for up to 2016. Having originally being awarded the previous 2 year contract Kingsley Plastics again offer a next day GRP Housing delivery service given an order is received by 10.00am for ‘on the shelf’ manufactured items.

In addition to the supply of both high gloss moulded GRP Housings to Wessex Water, Kingsley Plastics are also approved again for AMP 5 for the design, manufacture & installation of a wide range of both heavy duty anti-vandal and single skin high spanning Odour Control Covers. This is now the second AMP Phase in a row that Kingsley Plastics have been approved as a preferred supplier to Wessex Water and in turn is yet another endorsement of not only their specification and designs, but also the emphasis upon cost competitiveness that is at the heart of Kingsley’s thinking.

The GRP Meter Housing contract includes a provision for supplying enclosures and cabinets complete with explosion relief roofs and free air ventilation with each unit being supplied with an external moulded high gloss finish to any colour within the BS4800 or RAL ranges. Ventilation is also provided by means of the Kingsley Plastics designed vented door system by which dramatically increases the free flow of air ventilation thus providing the option of having either a Zone 2 or Explosion Relief roof as standard and thereby further saving our customers even more money.

Kevin Down, Group Managing Director of Kingsley Plastics commented: “This contract renewal is one of a number recently awarded to Kingsley Plastics within the wider Utility Network. It reflects the hard work and customer commitment of not only our office based staff, but also our manufacturing staff alike. We have worked in partnership with Scottish & Southern and Scotia Gas Networks on a contract basis for a number of years now and have made a significant contribution to the speed and operational improvements achieved by the joint teams in lowering delivery timescales as well as the overall costs to the end client.

“We are delighted to have been awarded the contract. We look forward to working with SSE & SGN over what hopefully will be the next five years to drive lower costs, improve efficiency and improve levels of customer satisfaction, through the use of our bespoke meter housing designs and the strength of our presence within the UK’s Gas sectors and the greater Utility arena.”

In addition to the SSE & SGN contract award within the Gas Sector, Kingsley Plastics have also been successful in once again winning the contract for the design, manufacture & delivery of the larger walk-in type GRP Substation Housings for Electricity North West, formerly known as United Utilities Plc.

This second contract also commenced in production in January 2011 and was awarded to Kingsley by Electricity North West and perfectly underlines the company’s standing as one of the UK’s largest and longest servicing manufacturers of GRP Housings & Solutions currently in production. The 5 year framework applies to the design, manufacture & installation of the complete range of GRP Substation modular buildings complete with Kingsley’s own designed and tested Explosion Relief Roof systems. External finishes include for their anti-vandal Textured Finishes, as well as other options including smooth moulded and simulated Brick & Stone buildings. Commenting on this award Kevin Down stated “For Kingsley Plastics to have again won such a large contract from yet another ‘Blue Chip’ customers cements our position as one of the largest GRP manufacturing company’s in the UK today. Our company has evolved over the last number of years and we have won these contracts upon our ethos of supplying the highest quality of products, to the very latest of specification and most importantly to our customers deadlines and prices budgets without fail”.
