Warden Biomedia wins Turkish Contract for Airport in Jordan

Posted: Thursday 30th March 2017

Warden Biomedia, the UK's leading random biological filter media manufacturer, has won a contract with Turkish water treatment company, Yeditepe Aritma to supply its innovative Biopipe 600 product.

Istanbul based Yeditepe Aritma will use Warden's Biopipe in a new MBBR plant at Queen Alia International Airport, Amman, the capital of Jordan, which they have been contracted to build.

Says Warden's managing director, Mark Barrett, "Yeditepe Aritma was looking for a Western EU supplier. As well as us, they also contacted Spanish and German manufacturers, but were most impressed by the design and high quality of our Biopipe product.

"We're delighted to be supporting such a pioneering company. They are dedicated to cost effective wastewater, water treatment and reuse processes in Turkey and other water scarce countries and are making an important contribution to wastewater treatment with significant R&D projects."

Yasemin Salmanoglu, Plants Design Engineer at Yeditepe Aritma said, "Warden Biomedia is an important partner on this project. Their customer service and product is excellent and unlike many other suppliers in the industry their product is made of polypropylene rather than polyethylene which was a key environmental factor for us. We plan to do more business with them in the future."

The Biopipe 600 is designed to provide a large protected surface area for the biofilm and optimal conditions for the bacteria culture when the media are suspended in water. Its advanced design creates a high percentage of protected surface area for microorganisms to adhere. In turn, this increases the overall biomass concentration and can reduce the tank volume required for wastewater treatment. Large openings allow for the wastewater to freely pass through the media which helps maintain a healthy and thin biofilm.
