The digitalisation of the water industry has been rewarded

Posted: Thursday 20th June 2019

Northumbrian Water (NWG), Interserve and Wood have won the award for a forward thinking approach to data collection. While many organisations focus on adding data to 3D representations, the winning team recognised the limitations of this approach. Working with industry supply chain partners the team collaboratively developed a simple but highly effective information and data capture method that has been freely shared with the BIM4Water groups and via the UK BIM Alliance.

Entries were assessed on innovation, aims, objectives, process, impact, transferability and repeatability. The shortlist comprised: A Model-Centric Approach – Engineering and Collaboration in 3D (Stantec UK); Minworth THP (MWH Treatment); Transforming the Commissioning Process with Digital Twins (Mott MacDonald); and The Implementation of Digital Rehearsal (Anglian Water@one Alliance).

The award, sponsored by KSB and supported by the Pump Centre and British Water, was presented earlier this month at the Pump Centre Water Equipment Show held at the International Centre, Telford. Jamie Mills. Incoming Chair of BIM4Water and Systems Engineer at water solutions provider Xylem, said: “I am absolutely delighted with the response to the launch of this prestigious award and I am proud to present this trophy to a deserved winner.”

Mike Overy, BIM Manager at NWG said: “We’ve been working extremely hard to change the way we think about product data in asset management. This award came as a real surprise and we appreciate the recognition from BIM4Water.”

BIM4Water is a cross-industry group open to all organisations involved in the management and delivery of water and wastewater assets. More details at: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE
