Following a rigorous trial to test out claims that the Mono EZstripTM pump can be de-ragged in 2˝ minutes and fully stripped down and maintained in just 30 minutes, Southern Water has installed six of these innovative maintain in place pumps at its Sludge Treatment Centre (STC) in Millbrook.

After seeing the performance benefits of this EZstripTM pump, Southern Water replaced its remaining pumps, which included models from another PC pump manufacturer, with five more EZstripTM pumps. They have been installed to transfer sludges at different stages in the process, including centrifuge feed, digester feed and cake dilution.

Carl Smith, Section Leader at Millbrook STC, commented on the installation: “We have a preferred supplier agreement with NOV Mono and the EZstripTM is our preferred standard asset. We have installed six EZstripTM pumps at our site in Millbrook because of the de-ragging benefits they offer our operators.”

Mono’s EZstripTM progressing cavity pump is the biggest leap forward in progressing cavity (PC) pump design for 30 years and is an extension of Mono’s popular Compact C Range. The EZstripTM has been specifically designed to provide a quick and easy way to disassemble, de-rag and maintain a PC pump in-situ, eliminating the costly maintenance and down time that servicing can often cause.

The EZstripTM pump can be installed into new plants or retrofitted into existing Mono
Compact C installations. No electrical disconnection is required and suction and discharge pipes remain untouched.

The EZstripTM pump offers dry run protection and all operational parameters are unaffected. The model range has a capacity of up to 165m3/h and 12 bar pressure, and is available in either cast iron or stainless steel. WRAS compliant elastomers are incorporated into the manufacture of this pump and a pre-assembled drive train, with two year warranty, is also available.
