Remedial coring of a channel in the DN1200 Easi-Base unit

Posted: Monday 8th February 2016

Under the auspices of Anglian Water, FP McCann’s Easi-Base manhole chamber has recently been cored to create a new inlet point at a new housing development in Poringland near Norwich. Over 300 new homes will benefit from the remedial works.

George Bircham, Managing Director of G&J Bircham Ltd, Norwich commented:
“I was very impressed how simple and efficient the operation was to create the new channel in the base unit. With the cooperation and approval from Anglian Water who were very pleased with the result, it’s something we shall certainly consider on further sites if the need arises.”

FP McCann’s WRc approved precast concrete Easi-Base system incorporating a fully integrated, water tight polypropylene liner has replaced the outdated labour intensive method of in-situ manhole base construction. Installation of the Easi-Base system is quick and efficient and with site health and safety of paramount importance, the pre-formed base, benching and channels significantly reduces the number of visits and overall time spent in the excavation during construction. Placement of the unit and connection of the inlet/outlet pipes can be undertaken in as little as 30 minutes. This compares with up to 48 hours for a traditional in-situ build.
