Murphy water sector awarded £6.7m contract

The specialist water sector at engineering and construction company J. Murphy & Sons Limited (Murphy) has been awarded a £6.7m contract by Sutton and East Surrey Water.

Murphy will design and build new pipelines for Sutton and East Surrey Water to provide 56% of customers with drinking water from more than one water treatment works.

The first pipeline has just entered a 26-week design phase, with works due to start in March 2017.

Stuart Rothery, director of the water sector at Murphy, said: "We are proud of our work in this sector, we have a first-class team with a proven track record of delivering similar frameworks in the water and wastewater sector and we are looking forward to partnering with Sutton and East Surrey Water to deliver on OFWAT commitments. The pipelines will cross a range of different types of terrains and we will use the most innovative methods to ensure the least disruption at every stage of the process."
