A contract to supply six water treatment units for three of TAQA Bratani's North Sea offshore platforms has been awarded to Aberdeen based Monitor Systems Scotland..

After a competitive tendering process, TAQA Bratani and Wood Group Engineering (North Sea) awarded the contract to Monitor Systems Scotland for the supply of six C'Treat Reverse Osmosis Water treatment units, to provide fresh water on the Cormorant Alpha, North Cormorant and Tern platforms.

All six units have been built at C'Treat's plant in the USA, will be installed by Wood Group and commissioned by Monitor Systems Scotland, by the end of 2010.

Part of an overall upgrading programme on the three platforms, the six C'Treat reverse osmosis water-makers guarantee a reliable, on-platform supply of potable or drinking water.

Brian Sinclair, managing director, Monitor Systems Scotland, said, "We believe that a big factor in winning this prestigious contract was our technical capability, proven track record in this field and C'Treat's superior world leading product, which offers proven reliability and water output at a very competitive price. As well as enhancing our reputation in this field, the order reinforces the swing towards on-deck desalination, as opposed to bunkering and lesser systems."

Mr Sinclair confirmed that this order to Monitor Systems Scotland had contributed to exceeding its annual sales target for water treatment units and coupled together with other new business, had led to a recruitment drive for experienced engineering and support staff.
