Improvements to Oldham Wastewater Treatment Works

Posted: Wednesday 10th June 2009

Between 2005 and 2010, United Utilities has been investing heavily in updating and improving its water and sewage infrastructure. As part of this modernisation programme, the Oldham Wastewater Treatment Works is being renovated. For residents of the area, this will mean that wastewater will be dealt with more efficiently, in turn leading to cleaner rivers, streams and coastal areas. An improved Sewage Treatment Works will also handle excess stormwater, thereby preventing possible flooding.

Steel has been the material of choice for this part of the scheme, with Frazer & Tabberer supplying a number of 1000mm and 1200mm diameter pipes. FT Ductile has supplied a number of fittings to complement the pipes; tied VJ pipe couplings, flanges and flange adaptors. A CAD design service has been provided by Frazer & Tabberer for the project.
