Fast solution for paper manufacturer with BlutopTM pipeline

Posted: Monday 10th December 2012

Iron technology leader Saint-Gobain PAM UK, part of leading international materials company Saint-Gobain, has supplied its innovative BlutopTM water pipe at a specialist paper and advanced materials group in Bowston, Cumbria.

James Cropper Mills plc, the Lake District manufacturer of luxury paper and advanced materials, asked Saint-Gobain PAM UK to provide a high pressure pipeline solution which could be quickly commissioned and installed, causing minimal disruption to the surrounding local villagers in Bowston and at the company’s paper mills.

160mm BlutopTM is a push-fit water pipe system made from ductile iron and was specified for 650 metres supply. Its manual push-fit jointing with six degree angular deflection meant that the pipeline was assembled quickly and easily, making it the ideal solution for James Cropper Mills plc.

Peter Povey of Saint-Gobain PAM UK commented: “BlutopTM was specified for its all-round benefits, including an aluminium zinc external coating for protection and a Ductan internal lining which provides increased hydraulic performance and efficiency, superior to many other standard linings currently available.

“The fact that the pipe can be installed quickly because of its push-fit technology meant customers were not waiting for an extended period of time for the project to be completed. Designed to last up to 100 years, the product provided an assured ‘fit and forget’ solution.”

The installation was completed by contractor Ellergreen Hydro.
