Fast delivery is key to Lanes Group fast food drainage service

Posted: Tuesday 14th July 2015

Fast and efficient service is winning Lanes Group work with a construction firm kept busy building fast food restaurants for KFC.

Trojan Construction has built 24 new restaurants on behalf of KFC UK and Ireland and KFC franchise holders in less than three years, and has more projects in the pipeline.

KFC, recently featured in the BBC TV documentary The Billion Dollar Chicken Shop, has said it expects to open 30 new restaurants every year for the next five years.

Trojan Construction selects Lanes Group to carry out initial CCTV drainage surveys and pre-adoption surveys for many of its KFC restaurant construction sites across the UK.

Dave Thomas, construction director of the fast-expanding South Wales-based firm, said speed and efficiency is vital to the success of their build projects for KFC, which is why they use Lanes Group.

He added: "Just like KFC, we have to work fast and deliver a quality product every time. That means our suppliers have to work to challenging deadlines.

"The Lanes Group team is there when we need them, anywhere in the UK. They work safely and professionally, and have the right knowledge and equipment to ensure we can get on with our work. Their service is impressive."

Lanes Group engineers have carried out CCTV drainage surveys and drainage cleaning work on sites in Wales, Cheshire, Greater Manchester, Shropshire, West Midlands, East Midlands, Somerset and Hertfordshire.

Ian Clapham, area development manager for Lanes Group's Chester depot, said: "With operational depots in every part of the UK, we are geared up to respond quickly to the needs of customers like Trojan Construction.

"For example, if jet vacuumation work is required, we can deploy a recycler jet vac tanker, which reuses its water, so can stay on site working for longer, which means the work gets completed faster.

"We also have the capability to turn around survey reports very quickly, which for Trojan is essential to allow them to start the next phase of the build, for example moving from groundworks to steel erection."

In March, Trojan Construction was named Contractor of the Year 2014 by KFC UK and Ireland. The new restaurants it has built have contributed significantly to the fast food giant's continued impressive growth.

KFC has more than 860 restaurants in the UK, employing 24,000 people and serving its famous fried chicken to more than 140m people a year. It was due to invest 21m in the year to April 2015, building 32 more branches and creating 1,300 jobs.
