Durapipe ABS hosetails have been specified by engineering company Phoenix Hydraulics, to be fitted on board a luxury yacht liner.

Phoenix Hydraulics manufactures and supplies hydraulic equipment and components for industrial, mobile, automotive and marine applications and was looking for a bespoke pipework fittings solution for one of its luxury yachts.

Previously, brass hosetails had been fitted to connect the hoses that transport the chilled water for the air conditioning system on board the luxury pleasure boat – however Phoenix Hydraulic was looking to replace these fittings with a more cost effective solution.

As a result the engineering company turned to Durapipe UK and the plastic pipework manufacturer produced a series of Durapipe ABS flexible hosetails, in sizes 20mm – 40mm, specifically to fit the existing hoses. The ideal product for the application, Durapipe ABS flexible hosetails are limescale and corrosion resistant and will remain ductile down to -40°C. In addition, the hosetails are manufactured from a lightweight material making them easy to retrofit within the tight spaces of the yacht, significantly reducing the installation time and costs.

Ian Barraclough, head of sales at Phoenix Hydraulics said: “Durapipe ABS hosetails have proven to be a reliable alternative to the previous brass fittings we were used to working with. The ease of installation, combined with the quality of the product, makes it a cost effective solution we are hoping to incorporate into future lines of luxury boats we are working on.”

Durapipe ABS pipework fittings are ideal for use in the transportation of chilled and boosted cold water applications; combining toughness and corrosion resistance through its smooth inner-bore – it is a reliable product that is ideally suited for a range of different applications on a ship as the system can carry seawater, fresh water and cleaning water.

Furthermore, Durapipe ABS is manufactured to the highest level and the system meets many international marine standards and approvals.
