Dŵr CymruWelsh Water approval makes it a ‘full house’ for Polypipe’s Ridgistorm-XL

Posted: Thursday 28th March 2013

Polypipe, the UK’s leading manufacturer of plastic sustainable drainage and water management products, has received approval from Welsh Water for the use of its market-leading Ridgistorm-XL large diameter pipe system.

The approval, awarded following an extensive product assessment, enables Ridgistorm-XL to be used anywhere within Welsh Water’s operating area, in both Capital Works and Section 104 schemes.

It is the 11th approval for Polypipe’s hugely popular Ridgistorm-XL system, and furthermore, it means the system now holds water authority approvals across the whole of the UK mainland.

The acceptance, which sits alongside Ridgistorm-XL’s WRc certification for 750-2100mm diameter fittings, pipes and manholes, incorporates all pipe options, and diameters from 750 to 2100mm.

Emma Thompson, Marketing Communications Manager at Polypipe, said: “We are delighted to receive this acceptance from Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water and especially as this now completes the suite of water authority approvals for our Ridgistorm-XL system across the UK mainland.

“Here at Polypipe we continuously invest in product development and third party processes in order to deliver bespoke, value engineered solutions to our customers. Independent approvals such as these further reinforce the work we undertake as market leaders to push the boundaries in sustainable drainage and water management products.”

Awarding the approval to Polypipe on behalf of Welsh Water, David Evans, Associate Director at Arup, commented: “It has been a pleasure to work with Polypipe throughout the approvals process and I am very pleased to issue this certificate in relation to the use of the Ridgistorm-XL system within Welsh Water’s operating area.”

Ridgistorm-XL is ideally suited to large-scale pipeline, soakaway and attenuation projects within the civil engineering and construction industries and due to the light weight nature of plastic pipes, Ridgistorm-XL is safer, quicker and easier to handle and install than traditional materials.

Since its launch in 2008 Ridgistorm-XL has received approval from Severn Trent Water, Scottish Water, Anglian Water, Southern Water, South West Water, Thames Water, Yorkshire Water, Wessex Water, Northumbrian Water, United Utilities and Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water.
