Aquaflow Valves Supplies to Singapore

Posted: Tuesday 7th December 2010

Following an international search Aquaflow, the waterworks valves division of T-T, were recently selected to work alongside a specialist contractor of mechanical and environmental equipment based in Singapore.

The Singaporean company successfully managed the £35,000 project from the Public Utilities Board of Singapore to upgrade a troublesome section of DN600 wastewater main. The project involved the replacement of twenty obsolete air valves that had proved problematic and costly to maintain.

Aquaflows’ order consisted of twenty flanged double orifice air valves, which allow for the efficient release of air to prevent pressure build-up within pipe systems during the charging phase, ingress of air to prevent vacuum conditions during draining phase and controlled bleed of air to maintain system stability. The valves, as in this case, are for sewage and wastewater applications.

The Public Utilities Board of Singapore had regularly experienced failure of the internal mechanical levers on traditional air valves leading to costly to repairs. The Aquaflow solution appealed due to the novel directly acting stainless steel internal float and seal assembly that negated the need for mechanical levers and the ease in which the units could be economically maintained.

The Singaporean contractor commented “The valves supplied, met the high standards of quality required, Aquaflow was not only responsive, but had impeccable levels of customer service, ensuring that the required valves were within budget and arrived in Singapore, on time as scheduled. Their reliable delivery allowed the installation to run on time, with no costly downtime occurring. We look forward to working with Aquaflow again in the future”

For potable water applications Aquaflow distributes the WRAS approved Aquabrake series of both single and double orifice air valves, which also feature a directly acting float and boasts a patented seal arrangement.

Aquaflow, based in Cheshire, with a sales centre in Bedford are professionals in the design, manufacture and distribution of a wide range of engineered waterworks valves and ancillary equipment. With a strong presence abroad, Aquaflow has exported its products across continents to assist in the management of potable and waste water distribution networks.
