Anglian Water awards Deritend with multi-million pound contract for asset improvement programme

Deritend Industries – the UK’s leading industrial maintenance, service and repair group – have once again bolstered their credentials in the water industry by landing a major five year contract with Anglian Water.

Anglian Water, geographically the largest regional water and wastewater company in the UK, supply’s a region of over 27,500 square kilometres with wastewater treatment works, reservoirs and development sites from Humberside in the North to the Thames Estuary in the South and across to Northampton in the West.

Anglian Water have turned to Deritend, amongst others, as one of the key suppliers used to improve the performance of its sewage treatment works in order to comply with more stringent discharge consents set by the Environment Agency. Deritend have now been confirmed as a MEICA subcontractor partner for the full AMP5 period until March 2015, and this framework could continue all the way though AMP6 as well.

The new AMP5 MEICA contract involves carrying out mechanical and electrical refurbishment and installation of any of Anglian Water’s water and wastewater treatment processes deemed necessary during the five year period.

Anglian Water have turned to Deritend at a time when they are under pressure to drive down costs through innovation and efficiency whilst maintaining a strong customer focus, continuing to improve the delivery of quality services and value for money. As such, they demand excellent performance from suppliers and contractors in order to deliver on expectations with innovative ideas and technology.

Regional manager at Deritend, Mike Smith, explained “we are delighted to be working so closely with a water company with such wide coverage in the UK, and will make sure that the delivery of service, maintenance carried out and any field based repair operations, are carried out to the highest of standards.” He continued, “This type of landmark contract has a substantial requirement for highly skilled field engineers, which Deritend are proud to be able to offer on a long term basis”.

This major development in the water industry comes on the back of previous success with other core water and wastewater providers in the UK, proving that Deritend has a unique offering to the industry. They are able to provide a high quality, fast response, engineering service with the additional backing of well established workshop based engineering services, distinguishing Deritend from other key suppliers.
