Aeration success for Landia’s mixers at Aspall Cyder

Posted: Wednesday 12th September 2012

Mixers made by Landia have completed 5 years of uninterrupted service at Aspall Cyder.

Landia’s DG-I 105 submersible mixers provide essential aeration of wastewater at Debenham, near Stowmarket in Suffolk, where Aspall has been producing its cyder since 1728.

The 15 kW mixers from Landia provide the required 20kg of oxygen per hour as part of very carefully handled production process, which to this day sees every batch of Aspall signed off by a member of the Chevallier family who are now in their eighth generation as cyder producers. As well as its cyder, Aspall also produce an unfermented apple juice, organic cyder vinegar and apple balsamic vinegar.

Peter Richardson, Aspall’s Operations Manager, commented: “Over the years Landia’s mixers have proved very efficient and trouble-free. We don’t have to think about them because they keep on working and do exactly what is required”.

Landia’s mixers are designed so that solids cannot enter and cause clogging problems. The casing and impeller also protects it from impurities.

More recently, Landia has installed a new aeration system at the Hook Norton Brewery in Oxfordshire, which is famous for its fine ales and beers such as Old Hooky and Hooky Gold.
