Innovative tool makes switching simple for the water industry

A North East utilities firm is sharing the secret of its success to allow the water industry to offer a better service to customers.

Everflow Tech, which, along with supplier Everflow Water, makes up Everflow Group, has opened its innovative Simple Quoting tool to retailers across the English and Scottish markets.

The software was developed in house in collaboration with Everflow Water’s brokers, to make switching water provider simpler for SMEs, cutting the time it takes brokers and sales teams to obtain quotes from days to seconds.

Since the development and adoption of the quoting tool, Everflow Water has become the fastest organically growing water retailer in the market, gaining over 68,000 supply points.

Everflow Tech’s Chief Technology Officer Paul Williams said: “Before we launched Simple Quoting, we had a full suite of tools, but it became clear that from talking to retailers that they wanted elements of our previous software, without investing in the full product.

“Therefore, to make its features easily accessible, we decided to separate the modules of the tech and offer them as standalone products.

“The first of these is the Simple Quoting tool, which has proven extremely popular because it significantly boosts sales potential – as we have seen first-hand with Everflow Water.”

Everflow Group, which is the UK’s fastest organically growing water retailer, was launched by chief executive Josh Gill and employs over 70 people across its sites in Teesside and Nuneaton, Warwickshire, and has recorded revenues of £60m this year.

The water division was launched in 2015, after Josh saw a gap in the market for an ethical water retailer which could utilise technology to operate efficiently. Everflow Tech was created in 2018 as a retail sales, billing and customer management platform.

Josh said: “The Simple Quoting tool was the secret to Everflow Water’s engagement with the SME segment of the market who want to switch quickly. We don’t proactively sell our services directly to SMEs, we use brokers, and this tool has proven invaluable to them. They love it because it’s the key to hitting sales targets in water.

“We have a clear vision to make utilities simple and this applies to the market as a whole, which is why we’re excited to launch the Simple Quoting tool on the market.

“We want it to succeed and we want customers to have a positive experience; with ever more retailers and brokers using it, switching will increase across the board.”
