Didn’t Think You Could Afford a Sewer Inspection Van? - You Can Now

Posted: Tuesday 28th July 2009
Recognising that not all companies need the sophistication of its
satellite-enhanced, custom-built inspection vans with mainline sewer
inspection capabilities, Pearpoint has now launched a new series of
smaller vehicles containing the recently introduced P350 flexitrax™
portable crawler system. Ideal for smaller to medium sized companies,
these new vans incorporate the practical and ergonomic features of the
larger vans but for a fraction of the price. Up to now, the systems
integrators at Pearpoint have fully-equipped either Mercedes Vito or
VW Transporters with this new technology.
“We are in continual discussion with our customers about ways to
improve and provide them with products and services that meet their
exact requirements.” explains Douglas Kemp, Product Support Manager at
Pearpoint. “It was becoming increasingly clear that there was a need
for a van that would give customers all the tools they need to carry
out inspections of various pipes and manage reports on-site. As well
as incorporating the new P350 flexitrax™, the vans have been designed
to include adequate storage for the equipment, as well as a working
area for completing on-site reports.
It’s also the versatility of the P350 flexitrax™ that makes it ideal
for inclusion in these new inspection vans. The system is engineered
to operate in almost any environment. The command module and drum have
a weatherproof rating of up to IP68. The tough, yet lightweight
controller provides a durable buffer between the elements and survey
data.
Currently the vans are being built to include a self-contained powered
drum with 250m of cable and a manual drum system with 150m of cable.
This means that the position of the manhole is not critical as
inspection can take place from the back of the van or using the
portable system. However, the greatest advantage of the P350
flexitrax™ is that users can specify which parts of this modular
system they need. Not only can they choose their cable system, but
there is a wide range of cameras, crawlers and accessories that
enables subsite inspection of pipes from 4” to 24”.
