RMS keeps Irwell news flowing

Posted: Wednesday 5th August 2009

South Manchester-based RMS PR, design and marketing has further strengthened its public sector division by securing the account for a major urban regeneration project, Irwell City Park.

Irwell City Park is a multi million pound joint venture between Central Salford Urban Regeneration Company, Salford City Council, Manchester City Council, Trafford Metropolitan Borough Council and the North West Development Agency. Architects Broadway Malyan and property consultants Davis Langdon will together transform one of the North West’s key waterways.

The project will create a vibrant urban park running alongside eight kilometers of the natural course of the River Irwell, through Salford, Manchester and Trafford. The scheme will put the river at the heart of the community as well as creating picturesque public spaces and significantly boosting the local economy through employment opportunities and increased tourism in the area.

RMS has been chosen as the retained agency by Central Salford Urban Regeneration Company to promote the scheme and the benefits it will have on the local communities.

Ruth Shearn, managing director of RMS PR, said:

“Having already begun working on this project we know that Irwell City Park is an excellent addition to our public sector portfolio. This scheme is an exciting venture that will have major economic and social benefits for Manchester, Salford and Trafford. We’re looking forward to helping to bring the River Irwell back to life and telling the world all about it.”

Carla Todd, head of communications at Central Salford Urban Regeneration Company, said:

“Irwell City Park has the potential to create an internationally recognised waterfront destination for Greater Manchester and could be one of the most important projects for the conurbation core in many decades. Central Salford URC and partners look forward to working with RMS PR to promote this ambitious vision and turn it into reality on the ground.”

We are delighted to welcome RMS PR on board to help us promote Irwell City Park”

In the past 18 months RMS has grown from eight to 12 PR professionals and has launched a new design and digital service.
