Anglian awards prestigious single source contract to AUMA

Posted: Monday 8th September 2008

Just three months after achieving its largest water sector framework agreement, a prestigious single source contract has been awarded to AUMA actuators by Anglian Water. Commencing 1st August 08, the framework will run for three years and is extendable for a further two periods, each of two years.

In April 2008, United Utilities extended its framework contract with AUMA to full term and references from the FTSE 100 listed organisation supported Anglian Water’s choice of the modular electric actuation solution for its network of WwTW’s.

Under the terms of the contract, Anglian Water will adopt the AUMA MATIC actuator for new quarter-turn and multi-turn valve flow control applications at all sites in its region.

Commenting on the comprehensive tendering process and the selection of AUMA, Nigel Martin, Senior Buyer for Anglian Water, said:

“AUMA had sound references from other UK utilities and we verified these endorsements with our own scrutiny of the company’s R&D facilities. We were impressed by the professional, friendly, co-operative culture of the organisation which is backed by flexible, cost-effective actuation solutions. The modern, modular design of AUMA’s actuators, with labour saving ‘plug and socket’ assembly, also impressed us as it is ideally suited to the complexities of managing modern water and wastewater plants.

“Having satisfied ourselves with Auma’s stockholding in the UK, we inspected the company’s manufacturing plant in Germany. The Muellheim factory is a large and modern operation where the actuators are quite clearly being produced in the kind of numbers which will ensure a smooth supply chain. It was also noted that the manufacture of all castings, components and finishing were conducted on the premises under a rigorous quality and testing programme.”
